After saying goodbye to Malcolm in the Middle almost twenty years ago, the series is returning for a revival on Hulu. According to ScreenRant, Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair released its first teaser. After a reunion of the cast and a vast expression of desire for a return in 2016, they finally returned with a new short story. View the trailer below.
According to ScreenRant, the four-part series follows an older Frankie Muniz who has been in “Agent Cody Banks” as well as “Big Fat Liar” as Malcolm and family on Hulu and Disney+ on April 10, 2026. Most of the cast returns from the old series, along with a new director. Bryan Cranston who plays Hal who also played in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” returns, as well as Jane Kaczmarek who plays Lois also returns who also played in “The Heavenly Kid” and “Falling in Love“. However, Dewey is recast as Caleb Ellsworth-Clark who has starred in shows like “The Silencing” and “The Nightmare Alley“.
ScreenRant explains that creator Linwood Boomer from “Little House on the Prairie” and “Little House Years” is writing the new episodes, and Ken Kwapis from “He’s Just Not That Into you” and “License to Wed” is directing all the episodes of the show. There is little under four months until it premieres, showing that the family comes together for the parents’ 40th wedding anniversary, leading to the usual family pain that ensues even when you are older.
According to ScreenRant, the original series finished with Malcolm working part-time and going to school, not having a romantic partner at the time. However, now it is shown that he has a girlfriend, who appears not be the mother of his daughter, Leah. The new trailer leaves many more questions than answers, but those answers will be answered soon, the fans hope.
Malcom in the Middle: Life Still Sucks arrives on Hulu on April 10, 2026.
