Netflix is elevating its famously personalized recommendations to a cosmic new level with the launch of a new feature. As detailed by Screenrant, the popular streaming platform will make an announcement on August 23 that the upcoming feature will have viewing recommendations based on the astrological signs. Moving beyond traditional data points like viewing history and genre preferences, Netflix is now suggesting titles that align with the vibe and personality traits associated with each zodiac sign.
Screenrant reports, the platform has a vast library of movies and TV shows with great ratings and popular titles, such as K-Pop Demon Hunter, and they are hoping the audience will have fun engaging with the new feature. Furthermore, the company goes on to give a statement within an interview with Screenrant and explain the idea behind the new recommendation hub,”At Netflix, our team of curators on the member experience team create these themed collections to help members discover something fresh, fun and timely.”
According to Screenrant, such a collection could include Sagittarius’ having an action-themed selection such as The Witcher, while Scorpios would be lead towards mystery titles such as Wednesday.
As noted by Screenrant, while some users may be skeptical of a feature based on astrology, it’s an optional hub that doesn’t replace the platform’s core, data-driven recommendation system. The majority of people find the new system very promising and that Netflix is providing them a way to connect with their astrologic belief. Another factor that is important, this system will allow certain shows and movies on a separate accounts to not be overwritten by your own.
Screenrant notes, this is a clever experiment by Netflix that explores current multicultural trends while addressing the ongoing dilemma of “What should I watch?” The platform’s new feature provides a uniquely tailored and entertaining experience, demonstrating that sometimes, the best recommendations can indeed be found in the stars.
