It appears MGM+ is taking its espionage and crime content to another level, and at the helm of this project is none other than Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, The Boys). According to Screenrant, following his well-known roles such as Soldier Boy in The Boys and Mark Meachum in Countdown, Ackles will return to star in a new series, Rules of Prey. The series is based on the 1989 crime novel of the same name by John Sandford (Rules of Prey, Silent Prey).
Ackles will portray Lucas Davenport, a former police detective who was forced out due to his sharp mind and refusal to let legal technicalities stand in the way of justice. He is pulled back into action when a clever serial killer begins targeting citizens in Minneapolis to send him a direct message. Davenport’s partner in solving the case is a Rottweiler named Mr. W.
Reported by Screenrant, other confirmed cast members alongside Ackles, including Peter Outerbridge (IT: Welcome to Derry, Silent Hill: Revelation) as Sloan, a veteran detective dedicated to his work; Ethan Klein (H3 Podcast) as Peter; and Cody Ray Thompson (The Umbrella Academy, The Shape of Water) as Louis, a highly skilled and overworked geeky researcher. Newly announced cast members include Lucy Fry (Night Teeth, Vampire Academy) as Special Agent Marcy and Amanda Brugel (Infinity Pool, Ashgrove) as Superintendent Rose Marie.
According to Screenrant, created, written, and produced by Bruce Terris (Patriot, Dirty Work), Rules of Prey is a gripping series that will keep audiences continuously guessing the true culprit behind each crime. With this current lineup, audiences can expect an extraordinary performance that heightens the series’ narrative arc and delivers maximum audience engagement.
At the moment, MGM+ has yet to release information regarding the official premiere date for Rules of Prey on MGM+. Ackles’ future television appearances will also include returning as Russell Shaw in Tracker and reprising his role as Soldier Boy in the prequel series Vought Rising.
