‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Showrunner Discusses Delving Into The Multiverse

The highly anticipated animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, scheduled to premiere on Wednesday with two episodes, has received a major update from its showrunner. According to an interview with Screenrant, Jeff Trammell (Craig of the Creek) spoke about whether this version of Peter Parker, voiced by Hudson Thames (What If…?), will be involved in the multiverse saga, to which he revealed that he is open to the possibility.

Trammell further detailed his thoughts in the interview with Screenrant, saying, “I think there’s room forr pretty much anything in the series, depending on how long the show goes, hopefully, for a very long time. But I will say that for me right now, the important thing is making sure that this is a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. I love our kind of street-level aspect. We are primarily a New York-based show. There are a few instances where we kind of go a little out of New York that I won’t spoil for readers or listeners. But the big thing is setting up this world, and I don’t mind branching out of it here and there. As the show goes on, if we were to encounter other Spider-people, that could be cool. But, for the show in itself for me, I think our sweet spot is keeping a street-level, grounded Spider-Man.”
According to Screenrant, with the footage currently available, it’s likely that the story the series follows will stay in the setting of New York City, which is not seen in past installments. The series will showcase comic-accurate designs of iconic characters such as Norman Osborn, voiced by Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead), Daredevil, voiced by Charlie Cox (The Defenders) and Doctor Octopus, voiced by Hugh Dancy (Ella Enchanted).
Whether the upcoming Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series will delve into the realm of the multiverse remains to be seen; it will surely be a ride for new and old fans of the franchise. While viewers await its release, all other installments within the Marvel franchises are available to stream on Disney+.
