You Spoilers Ahead!
After restarting production on its third season in early November following a long hiatus due to Hollywood’s COVID-19 industry-wide shutdown, the popular Netflix original series You has announced their newest additions to their cast, according to Variety. You stars Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl) as Joe Goldberg, a seemingly harmless and charming bookstore manager who uses every tool possible to get closer to the women he draws attraction to. His love interest in season one, named Beck, is played by Elizabeth Lail (Countdown) while his love interest in season two, named Love, was played by Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House).
The new additions to the You team include Saffron Burrows (Deep Blue Sea), Dylan Arnold (After, After We Collided), and Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), as series regulars alongside Michaela McManus (One Tree Hill), Shannon Chan-Kent (My Little Pony), Ben Mehl (Viral Beauty), Christopher O’Shea (A Simple Wedding, Patriot’s Day), Bryan Safi (Young & Hungry), Mackenzie Astin (The Facts of Life), Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons, Man of Steel), and Jack Fisher (The Conners) as recurring roles. While Burrows took the part of a recurring role in season two, she will be bumped up as a series regular this season.
Burrows will revive her role as Love’s mother, Dottie. Following the death of her son, she joins the cast to pour all her attention onto Love and her child. Meanwhile, Arnold will play the role of Theo, a troubled college student with a complicated relationship with his step-father. Gabrielle will play the part of Marienne, an observant librarian who knows a bit about everyone living in her neighborhood. McManus will play Natalie, Joe’s next door neighbor who is the subject of his latest attraction, who he ventures to learn more about.
Chan-Kent plays the role of Kiki, a wife, mother, and life coach with an entitled personality who enjoys spending her time gossiping at their neighborhood’s cafe. Mehl will play Dante, another librarian with damaged eyesight who maintains his status as a devoted husband with two step-kids. O’Shea plays Andrew, a stay-at-home dad who also enjoys gossip sessions at the local cafe. Sean plays the role of Kiki’s husband, Brandon, a tech investor who is now a stay-at-home dad.
Safi plays Jackson, Andrew’s husband. Astin plays Gil, a boring but good-hearted geology professor while Zurer plays Dr. Chandra, a couple’s therapist. Lastly, Fisher plays the role of a young Joe seen in flashbacks to his childhood home where he is vulnerable and bullied by his peers.
The third season of You will consist of 10 episodes and is expected to debut in 2021.
