Yes Network Expands Into Animation With New Saturday Morning Series ‘Bronx Buds’

According to Deadline, the television home of the New York Yankees is expanding into animation. the YES Network will premiere a new Saturday morning cartoon series called Bronx Buds. The full name of the series is HexClad Presents Bronx Buds as Hexclad Kitchenware sponsors the series. The series will air on the network on August 17 and will drop a new seven-minute episode on Saturdays onward. New episodes are scheduled to premiere August 17, 24 and 31; September 21 and 28; and October 5. The animated series will exclusively be produced for the Yes App in partnership with Tzero Studios.

As per DeadlineHexClad Presents Bronx Buds follows a fictitious, Bronx-based youth baseball team. It shows the team dealing not only the difficulties of the sport but also the  “laughter, life lessons, unexpected curveballs and unbreakable friendships,” according to a press release.

Users of the YES App in the network’s regional coverage territory, which spans New York state, Connecticut, north and central New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania, can tune into the animated series. Subscribers of the app can watch the show as well as they will have access to the YES national feed across the U.S.

The voice cast of the series includes Tzero Studios co-founders Justin Shenkarow (The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Spidey and His Amazing Friends) and Tom Borowski (The Mandala Maker). The rest of the cast has yet to be announced at this time.

Tzero Studios workers who are helping make Bronx Buds have also worked on animated titles like SpongeBob SquarePants, Beavis and Butthead and Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas. 

According to Deadline, the animated series is the latest addition to the YES App line up of original content made exclusively for the app.  Other series on the app include The Story of My Number Presented by New York Lottery, Home Plate: New York, The Balance and Bronx Beat.
