Paramount’s Yellowstone has given us an eventful fifth season so far. With the series transitioning into its midseason finale this Sunday, on New Year’s Day, at 7 p.m./8 p.m. ET, actress Piper Perabo, who plays the activist and environmental advisor Summer Higgins, teases that there is a lot more coming, according to ComicBook.
“There’s a lot coming,” Perabo told TV Insider. “Things are on the move. I can’t wait to get back to the back half just because I want to know what happens. I personally only know what happens up to the midseason finale up to that last second, and I don’t know what happens when we come back.”
Perabo admitted that Yellowstone‘s midseason finale will be ending on a cliffhanger. The actress has also revealed that the remainder of the fifth season is firmly on the hush-hush, according to Wide Open Country.
“I think you can tell that things are going really south because [the seventh] episode doesn’t end at the fair; it ends with him practicing that speech,” Perabo said of Jamie, played by Wes Bentley (American Beauty, The Hunger Games), preparing to call for John’s, played by Kevin Costner (The Postman, Dances with Wolves), impeachment. “And Taylor’s very good — if you’re paying attention, he’s telling you where the trouble’s coming from. I think the fact that he ends with that scene is, for those paying attention, he’s showing you.”
The mastermind, Taylor Sheridan (The Last Cowboy, Sicario), is no stranger to combustible season finales, cliffhangers, and endings with a twist, according to Wide Open Country. Will the second half of season five follow suit?
The fifth season’s second half premieres on New Year’s Day at 7 p.m./8 p.m. ET. You can also catch up on the latest episodes and the first half of the fifth season of Yellowstone on Paramount+.
