Fans get a first look into the thrilling world in Noah Hawley’s (Fargo) highly anticipated FX series, Alien: Earth. According to Deadline, the main premise of the series focuses on a mysterious space vessel named USCSS Maginot that crash lands on Earth and now Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler (Pistol, Sugar), and a group of soldiers now traverse the world while making a grave discovery. The setting takes place in the year 2120, in which the Earth is now being governed by five corporations, which are Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold.
According to Deadline, additional cast members that will be joining Chandler include Timothy Olyphant (Hitman, Havoc) as Kirsh, Alex Lawther (Andor, Black Mirror) as Hermit, Diêm Camille (Dandelion, The Wheel of Time) as Siberian , and Babou Ceesay (Wolfe, Dark Money) as Morrow. The first-look photos give a vague but intriguing perspective on what the series will be about and on the eye-grabbing world-building. The first look also gives that the series will blend the claustrophobic horror from the original films with a broader scope, as Wendy and her team explore the mysteries of the planet, which will include various alien encounters.
The series will also contain various monster species, which will include iconic ones such as the xenomorph, facehugger, and Yautja from previous installments. According to Deadline, Alien:Earth will consist of eight episodes with the time length for each one currently unknown and will serve as a prequel to the film. Fans can expect that the series will show events transitioning to the first Alien movie
The studio that will be behind the production of the upcoming sci-fi series will be FX Productions, whose best works include award-winning series such as Shogun and The Bear. According to Deadline, Alien:Earth is schedule to premiere on the FX Channel and Hulu on August 12 with a two-episode debut at 8 p.m. ET/PT with new episodes dropping every Tuesday.
