World Cup Final Pulls in Huge Ratings

Could soccer have finally gotten its foothold in the United States? With ratings up again since 2010, it seems that soccer in on the rise in America.

26.5 million viewers watched Germany defeat Argentina in the World Cup Final acroos the networks, with 17.3 tuning into ABC.  The final is up 1.8 million from the 2010 World Cup Final, and only one million off from the U.S Portugal match, which was the most watched match of the World Cup in America. The World Cup viewership was up 39 percent overall from 2010, averaging 4.6 million viewers in the 64 matches this year.
