Wizards Of Waverly Place Star David Henrie Teases Emotional Sequel Reunion With Selena Gomez

Fans of Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place can look forward to a heartwarming reunion as a sequel series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, is set to debut later this year. According to Comicbook.com, David Henrie (Paul Blart Mall Cop Two, How I Met Your Mother, This Is The Year), who played Justin Russo, recently shared his excitement about reuniting with co-star Selena Gomez (Princess Protection Program, Romona And Beezus, Horton Hears A Who), who portrayed Alex Russo, in an emotional interview.

According to Comicbook.com, Henrie described the reunion as a seamless continuation of their chemistry: “It felt like we didn’t miss a day.” He praised Gomez’s quick wit and expressed his anticipation for fans to see their new scenes together. Additionally, Henrie expressed his delight at working again with David DeLuise (Pup Star, Golden Shoes, Hot Stuff), who played their father, Jerry Russo, and his hope to see more original cast members return throughout the series.

As mentioned by Comicbook.com, the sequel series will feature both old and new faces, including Janice LeAnn Brown (Growing Up Immigrant, Montross: Blood Rules, Endings, Beginnings) as Billie, Mimi Gianopulos (Lily And Kat, The Wine Of Summer, The Good Half) as Giada Russo, Alkaio Thiele (I’ll Be There, Spidy And His Amazing Friends, A Christmas Mystery) as Roman Russo, Max Matenko (General Hospital, This Is Us, Platonic) as Milo Russo and Taylor Cora (American Gnasters: Trap Queens) as Winter. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will follow an adult Justin Russo, who is leading a normal life with his family. The storyline begins when Alex seeks Justin’s help to mentor a new wizard-in-training, intertwining their magical past with present-day responsibilities.

As Ayo Davis (Cabin Fever, Ghost Of Mars, Detroit Rock City), President of Disney Branded Television, noted, the original series captivated audiences with its magical adventures and humor. The sequel aims to recapture that enchantment for new viewers and loyal fans. Also mentioned by Comicbook.com, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is slated to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ sometime later this year.
