Winchester Bros on the Road Again? Jared Padalecki Pitches Update On ‘Supernatural’ Reboot

Jared Padalecki (Walker), who portrayed Sam Winchester on the acclaimed The CW series Supernatural, has rekindled hope for the show’s return with the cancellation of Walker. According to Screenrant, Padalecki appeared on Tommy DiDario’s (Extra) I’ve Never Said This Before podcast, which has been posted on X, and was joined by his wife, Genevieve Padalecki (Wildfire). During the podcast, he gave updates regarding the Supernatural reboot and restated Jensen Ackles’s (The Boys) commitment to a potential return.

Padalecki said to Screenrant, “I will say this. I don’t want to do another 15 years of Supernatural. I don’t want to do another 5 years of Supernatural , I am dying to do a reboot of Supernatural . Akin to the Gilmore Girls reboot. Here are four one-and-a-half-hour episodes. We’ll shoot it in three months. I think Jensen [Ackles] and I both said in 2020, ‘We’d love to revisit these characters, this world. Give us five years.’ Which is next year. And I see him often. And we talk often. I think he and I are both really eager to do it. I’m certain I’ll put the flannel on again and play Sam Winchester.”

According to Screenrant, with Jared and Jensen’s excitement about the reboot, fans have stated the show would be best in the hands of previous installment showrunner Eric Kripke (Timeless). Screenrant stated, “With any luck, Supernatural’s long-anticipated return may be just around the corner and may even see the show’s original creator return to steer it.”

The podcast has added excitement for fans who felt the series finale didn’t provide enough closure, and this reboot could offer a satisfying return to the world of monster hunting. Meanwhile, Padalecki’s name has also been floated as a potential candidate for season five of the hit superhero show The Boys, the release date and plot of which have not been released. While waiting for further information about the reboot, the entire 15 seasons of Supernatural are available to stream on Netflix, and the spinoff series, The Winchesters, can be streamed on Max.
