In a flurry of casting news for Grey’s Anatomy, according to Variety, it was recently announced that Wilmer Valderrama would be guest-starring on the show later this season.
The only details that has been released about Valderrama’s role is that his character’s name is Kyle Diaz. As is typical with Shonda Rhimes’ shows, no other details were released about his character, other than he will appear in a multi-episode arc.
Is it time to speculate there’s going to be a big lead up to the season finale that involves his character and one of the show’s doctors? After all, Grey’s Anatomy is known to have powerful and emotional finale episodes.
It was also recently announced that Rita Moreno and Casey Wilson will be guest-starring in an episode that is set to air on March 17.
There’s been different casting changes on the show this past season. Giocomo Gianniotti, who plays intern Andrew DeLuca, was promoted to series regular and Martin Henderson and Samantha Sloyan have been added to the cast.
Gianniotti’s character is involved with another one of the doctors on the show and is their storyline drawing parallels between Meredith Grey and Derek and Shepherd’s hidden relationship from the beginning of the show.
Henderson was cast as Nathan Riggs, a new trauma surgeon to the hospital who had a personal history with Owen Hunt and April Kepner.
Sloyan was cast as Penny Blake, a new resident at the hospital who used to work at the hospital where Derek died towards the end of the last season. She joined
Currently, Valderrama stars in From Dusk Till Dawn on El Rey Network. In the current television season, he starred in Fox’s Minority Report, which had its episode count trimmed early in its run and has effectively been canceled.
Valderrama is best known for his role as Fez, the foreign exchange student in Fox’s hit show, That ’70s Show, which ran from 1998-2006. Valderrama was a cast member throughout the show’s entire run.
He’s also known as the voice of Manny from the children’s show Handy Manny and he’s set to star in CBS’ military drama Four Stars. He’s also had guest-starring arcs in different shows, including Royal Pains, Raising Hope and Suburgatory.
Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its 13th season on March 3, along with 14 other shows on ABC.
