According to The Hollywood Reporter, Molly Shannon (People We Meet on Vacation, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot) will be joining former Saturday Night Live co-star Will Ferrell (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part) in a new Netflix golf comedy series. Before the show hit production, there were some irreconcilable differences off-camera.
The series co-creators, Ramy Youssef (Don’t Worry He Won’t Get Far on Foot, Nicky, Ricky, Dick & Dawn) and Josh Rabinowitz (Don’t Think Twice, Nick Kroll: Little Big Boy) have left the show over creative differences, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Andy Campagna (The Losers, Mo) of Youssef’s Cairo Cowboy production company also left the show.
As stated by The Hollywood Reporter, Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum (You’re Cordially Invited, Quiz Lady), and Alix Taylor (Night Of The Haunted, In The Valley of Violence) are named as the executive producers of the Netflix comedy series. Andrew Guest (Community: The Movie, Wonder Man), David Gorden Green (Heroes Till the End: Movie 2, The Man Who Saves the World), Harper Steele (The Roast of Tom Brady, Casa de mi Padre) and Chris Henchy (Holmes & Watson, Life of the Party) joined the show as executive producers after the departures of Youssef and Rabinowitz. Youssef will still be involved with Netflix given the deal he signed with the streamer last year. He is developing a series with Steve Way (Good Bad Things, Couples Therapy) set in a living facility.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Netflix comedy series will star Ferrell as a fictional golf legend and Shannon as a character named Stacie. This is by far not the first time Shannon and Ferrell have worked together on projects. Ferrell and Shannon worked together on many seasons of SNL and films such as A Night at the Roxbury and Superstar.
