
According to Deadline, Will Estes (The Dark Knight Rises, American Dream) will be shipping it up to Boston for the new Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue. Estes will once again be playing Jamie Reagan. Donnie Wahlberg (Dead Silence, Saw II) teased a guest spot in the show by posting a picture with his on-screen brother.
In the post, Wahlberg wrote, “Estes will once again being playing Jamie Regan!” per Deadline. Several other co-stars were also pictured in the post, including Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery, The Walking Dead), Marcus Scribner (The Good Dinosaur, How I Learned To Fly) and Mika Amonsen (Designated Survivor, The Spencer Sisters).
The Blue Bloods finale aired in 2024, and fans were left wondering what would happen to their favorite members of the NYPD. Wahlberg’s character Det. Danny Regan would head north to Massachusetts for the spin-off, which premiered in October of 2025. CBS recast the role of Sean in the new series with Amonsen replacing Andrew Terraciano (A First Step Into Darkness, Blue Bloods).
Several other actors from the flagship series have reprised their roles at some point in Boston Blue, all of whom were somewhere in the Reagan family tree. Bridget Moynahan (Lord Of War, Battle Los Angeles) returned as another Reagan sibling, Erin. Len Cariou (When They See Us, American Classic) returned as Reagan patriarch and Danny’s grandfather Henry Reagan. Lastly, Will Hochman (Vought Rising, The Greatest Beer Run Ever) reprised his role as Danny’s nephew Joe Hill.
CBS renewed Boston Blue early, receiving a second season order in December. Season two will premiere on October 9th, 2026. The show will continue to follow Danny on his career of catching bad guys after he departs from the New York City Police Department. The series was created by Brandon Margolis (The Blacklist, Alert) and Brandon Sonnier (The Beat, The Blacklist).
