Netflix will premiere a new animated series, BoJack Horseman, in mid-2014 starring Will Arnett, Aaron Paul and Amy Sedaris.
According to Rolling Stone, the series follows a “humanoid horse actor with a drinking problem.” It will be the “first original adult animated series” to stream on Netflix. Will Arnett (Arrested Development/The Millers) will voice the main character, a titular horse. Ironically, Arnett found stardom in 1990s Horsin’ Around. Amy Sedaris (Strangers With Candy) will portray Princess Caroline a former lover of BoJack’s and his feline agent. While Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) will play BoJack’s human pal Todd.
The series will have 12 episodes. Raphael Bob-Waksberg created the animated series. ShadowMachine is featured in the animation; they are responsible for Adult Swim cartoons like Robot Chicken and Moral Orel.
“BoJack Horseman is a brutally funny and unique take on what can happen after pop stardom,” Ted Sarandos Netflix Chief Content Officer said in a press release. “Raphael has created an amazing set of characters voiced by some of the best comics and actors in the world. We’re delighted to be partnering with Michael Eisner in delivering BoJack exclusively to Netflix members around the world.”
Arnett currently stars in The Millers on CBS at 8:30 ET. Paul will head to the big screen this spring in the action movie Need for Speed.
