Whoopi Goldberg’s ‘Poof!’ Is Set To Be The First Original Kids Animation On BLKFAM

According to Deadline, Whoopi Goldberg’s (The View, Sister Act) animated series Poof! is set to be the first original series for kids on the BLKFAM streaming service. The free, ad-supported streaming service created by digital marketing vet Larry Adams, launched in February. Goldberg is an equity partner on the streaming platform. 

Poof! is an animated preschool series created by Goldberg, who also serves as the show’s producer and voices the character of Grandma. The series is animated by Playwatch and is described as “an irreverent kid’s show about a fart with big dreams!”

Deadline reported that Goldberg signed on as an equity partner for BLKFAM alongside Tom Leonardis (Just for Kicks, A New Orleans Noel), president of her entertainment venture Whoop, Inc. Both are set to steer the creative development of many different programs exclusive to BLKFAM.

Jimmy Jenkins (Sinners Wanted, Outta the Rough), CEO of Playwatch Studios, said, “We are extremely honored to be apart of the Tribeca Film Festival. Working with Whoopi to bring this idea to life has been nothing short of a true joy. Her brilliance is displayed throughout all of her many ideas. We feel this is a start to a monumental partnership that will truly inspire children all over the globe.”

Goldberg added, “Poof! affects us all and it’s all about when you have little dreams, a family and a lot of gas.”

As per Deadline, BLKFAM bills itself as “the first and only Black-owned, Black-focused family streaming platform.” The streaming platform library has 20+ syndicated series and 1,000+ hours of new animation titles, including dozens of new animated characters of color and diverse gender experiences. It also has hundreds of hours of different original music content. This as well as hundreds of hours of different original music content. 

Poof! will premiere during the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival on June 8th. Afterward, the series will be available to stream on BLKFAM.
