According to The Hollywood Reporter, White Lotus actor F. Murray Abraham (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Scarface, Moon Knight) addresses and denies reports of alleged sexual misconduct currently under investigation. Abraham is reported to have crossed a line during Apple TV+’s series Mythic Quest with his alleged inappropriate and unprofessional behavior during taping, causing him to be removed from the Apple+ series.
The award-winning actor responded to allegations and shared a statement with The Hollywood Reporter in a detailed email, apologizing for his inexcusable behavior but tried to defend his actions as innocent jokes. Today, on April 20, he stated, “Though never my intention to offend anyone, I told jokes, nothing more, that upset some of my colleagues and as a result lost a great job with wonderful people.”
He continued his plea for public forgiveness saying, “This is a sincere and deeply felt apology, though never my intention to offend anyone, I told jokes, nothing more, that upset some of my colleagues and as a result lost a great job with wonderful people.” adding, “I have grown in my understanding from this experience, and I hope they will forgive me.”
This is not Abraham’s only infraction with sexual misconduct accusations. On April 17, Rolling Stone reported that his performance as a recurring character in the long-running thriller series, Homeland, was less than enjoyable. After receiving many reports of alleged misconduct from several unnamed actresses on set, Abraham was given warnings about his offensive behavior that would go unheeded as he continued to allegedly harass actresses on set. Once co-creator of the series, Rob McElhenney (Welcome to Wrexham, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Game of Thrones), was made aware of his transgressions, Abraham was almost immediately removed from the set.
Mythic Quest is a fictional tale following the writers/creators of one of the biggest and most popular video games on the market. Abraham portrayed the character C.W. Longbottom, head author of the digital game, making his final appearance at the end of season two initially airing back in 2021.
The show will continue without Abraham; with season three which finished shooting earlier this year in January. The show was created by McElhenny alongside Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses, The Super Mario Brothers Movie, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Megan Ganz (Community, Modern Family, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) debuting the pilot season in early 2020. The first two seasons are currently streamable on Apple TV+.
