What Will Happen With ‘Girl Meets World’?

Once Disney cancelled Girl Mets World, many fans were very unhappy. The spinoff series was a good change as was its predecessor Boy Meets World starring Topanga and Cory Matthews. It told a great story centering around Cory Matthews and his best friends. So, what will happen with season 4 of Girl Meets World? And who will pick up the series? So far Netflix has declined and there is no comment from Amazon. Still there is hope that other streaming services will continue the series.

There is a petition going on in change.com for the revival of the series on another network. Hopefully, with the high ratings and rising viewership, Girl Meets World will be allowed to come on still maybe not on Disney but another network. According to Bustle, it isn’t uncommon for streaming services to pick up previously cancelled fan favorite TV shows like Girl Meets World. Like its 90s predecessor, Girl Meets World centers around usually on one main character, this time it is Riley Matthews, the daughter of Cory and Topanga. It also focuses on her best friends.

This series tackled many issues concerning teenagers, like autism and bullying. It was a show that answered questions that were touched on in the lives of teenagers. Though it isn’t nothing new, the show shown a little spunk and made light of feminism and the lack of violence. There have been other cancelled shows that had been revived by streaming networks, such as The Mindy Project on Hulu and Fuller House on Netflix.

Creator Michael Jacobs told TVLine “There are talks underway, but we’re at the very very beginning stages. And I can tell you it’s because of the audience’s reaction to the cancellation that there is interest in other places.” But Jacobs told the Wrap that he’s having discussions with other “interested platforms.”

There even reports that Verizon’s go90 Platform, which targets millennials, will pick it up according to New York Post. Go90 declined to comment. Even if hope is fading for the series, many fans feel that it isn’t the last time they will see the show.

Girl Meets World ended its run-on Disney Channel on Friday night.
