‘What We Do in the Shadows’ Stars Tease Final Sixth Season To Go Out “With A Bang”

The beloved vampire comedy What We Do In The Shadows is returning for its sixth and final season. According to TVLine, two of the stars, Harvey Guillén (Wish, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish) and Matt Berry (Toast of London, The IT Crowd) of the FX series revealed their thoughts on what is to come to viewers who are anxiously awaiting the new season. Let’s just say, there is much to be discussed.

According to TVLine, Guillén expressed that the conclusion to the series will not disappoint. He also added that the finale is shaping up to be quite an expensive production. He spoke directly to TVLine, stating “I think we end with a bang,” he then laughed to himself and stated, “I would say we’re building up to something very expensive… we’re in a different world.”

Berry then revealed that the new season is going to be full of gems. Season six will feature plenty of “stunts” and “guest stars”. His co-star Mark Proksch (Decker, Mister America) then jokingly added after Berry’s reveal that there will be all these surprises, but “no goblins” as a playful nod to the content of What We Do In The Shadows.

In regards to the storylines of the new season, Guillén hinted at some new tension between his character Guillermo and his love interest Nandor now that the yearning that Guillermo had to become a vampire has diminished. With this, he also subtly hints at the motives behind the paths his character is going down. He says, “Just because you want something bad enough doesn’t mean that it’s meant for you… and now the only thing that kind of kept you together was this want and hope of getting what you wanted. Did you build a foundation of friendship? Or was it built just on a business transaction?”

The first five seasons of What We Do In The Shadows are currently streaming on Hulu. The sixth and final season does not have a concrete premiere date but is likely to be released in late 2024.
