What to Expect in Hawaii Five-0 Season 4

Back in May, the third season of Hawaii Five-O ended with a bang–literally.  Several cliffhangers leave the viewers wondering: “What’s going to happen next season?”

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have yet to see the season 3 finale.

The season finale teased “Four will become three”, implying that we would be losing a member of the Five-0 task force. This came about in a surprising way as Kono (Grace Park) left the country with her boyfriend Adam (Ian Dale). Does this mean Park is leaving the show? Certainly not.  After the finale, Hawaii Five-0 writer and Executive Producer Peter Lenkov tweeted, “ fans. Don’t fear… Kono’s story is FAR from over”.

“I don’t imagine that we’ve seen Grace Park wearing body armor over a tank top for the last time (I mean, I hope not! For all of our sakes!),” wrote Fanatic TV. “But I can imagine a Hawaii Five-0 Season 4 where the show’s shape has mutated into one that’s 3/4 island crime-fighting and 1/4 Kono being an international (fugitive) woman of mystery. I’m not saying I’m lobbying for it, but I could imagine it.”

“Grace is still in the show.”Lenkov told Hawaii News Now, “Here’s the thing about a cliffhanger. You don’t know what’s going to happen. We’re glad people are asking these questions. Grace is back and has a really interesting story arc.”

Kono’s departure is exceptionally tragic for fans who were still rooting for IT guy Charlie Fong (Brian Yang), who’s life still hangs in limbo after he was stabbed by Adam’s brother, Michael (Daniel Henney).

The finale also saw Commander Steve McGarret (Alex O’Loughlin) speaking to nemesis Wo Fat (Mark Dascascos) in his maximum security cell.  Wo Fat claimed that someone was coming to kill him and asked for McGarret’s help.  Wo Fat and McGarret will probably never be best buds, but it’s pretty safe to say that McGarrent won’t just sit back and let Wo Fat be murdered.

The show has also switched times, new episodes will show Fridays at 8.  Michelle Borth, who plays NAVY bombshell Catherine Rollins, is in favor of the change. “A little more sexy time.” She said to Hawaii News Now, “We’re on Friday night now so I’m thinking we can get more sexy time. Second base. I’m just saying.”

There’s a slew of new guest stars lined up for the new season as well.  Melanie Griffith will appear as Danno’s (Scott Caan) mother.  Nick Jonas will appear as troubled young hacker.  Several Lost stars will also be finding their way to the CBS show.

Hawaii Five-0 returns on Friday, Sept. 27 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
