Marvel’s What If…? Is currently in the middle of its second season, ComicBook reports, as the show is telling its audience various stories from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s multiverse. This animated series has subtly asked the fans various questions answered. For example, it ranged from “What If…Hela Found the Ten Rings?” to “What If…Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.” Today’s episode named “What If…Kahhori Reshaped the World,” was the one that did not show the appearance of another actor voicing his character from the MCU. A lot of actors from this universe have reprised their voice roles in this show, but many others have been recast.
While the Hela-themed episode does see the return of Cate Blanchett (Ta’r, Mrs. America) reprising her original character of Hela, the role of Xu Wenwu has been recast. Tony Leung (Hidden Blade, The Goldfinger), the original MCU actor who played the part in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, was taken over by Feodor Chin (D.P., Big Mouth) in this animated series since Leung didn’t come back to voice his original character. Today’s episode saw the reappearance of Odin from Asgard, originally portrayed by Anthony Hopkins (Rebel Moon, Freud’s Last Session) in the MCU. However, Hopkins is another MCU actor who hasn’t reprised his original role in the animated series. He was taken over by Jeff Bergman (Tom and Jerry, Space Jam: A New Legacy), the voice actor known for his role in Bugs Bunny.
Although, in many other episodes of the animated series, other MCU actors have returned to voicing their original roles. In season one of the show, Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager, The Essex Serpent) has come back to voice Loki Laufeyson, one of the most famous characters that have actually shaped the MCU universe. He reappeared in the episode named “What If…Thor Were an Only Child,” which saw the return of other characters too, such as Chris Hemsworth (Extraction, In the Heart Of The Sea) as Thor Odinson, Natalie Portman (Black Swan, Dolphin Reef) as Jane Foster, Kat Dennings (Two Broke Girls, WandaVision) as Darcy Lewis, and Samuel L. Jackson (Secret Invasion, Glass) as Nick Fury.
