Emily Somers (Awaken the Shadowman), a producer, actress, and writer, well-known for her role as Lindsay in Westworld, passed away on May 16 at the age of 38 from a rare form of carcinoma. She graduated with the highest honors from Piedmont High School and UC Davis and studied drama at Oxford University. Somers is survived by her husband of four and a half years, Geordie Robinson (The Debt Collector), her parents, Diana and Alvin Sommers, her parents-in-law, grandmother, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law. On IMDB, Somers’ other famous works consist of Into the Valley and The Last Thing He Told Me.
Previously, she interviewed with mxdwn to delve deep into her thoughts about her role on the renowned sci-fi show and what it was like working with the other cast members, such as Ed Harris (The Truman Show) and many more. One such inquiry that mxdwn asked during the interview is listed below.
“mxdwn: During your career, you’ve involved yourself in film and short film roles, and now you’re in Westworld in a television role, what is it about Westworld that drew you into getting into television?”
“Somers: Gosh, I think it was just the luck of the draw in terms of, you know, ending up doing more film than TV and I think now with TV being more kind of filmatic, I’m lucky enough to be getting more of these opportunities. But I think just the legacy of the show or any show on HBO really (laughs), you know, is a great show and I’ve been familiar with Westworld. I’ve watched seasons of Westworld, the actors on the show obviously. I mean, it’s just a win-win situation if you get the chance to be on a show like that.”
People remember Somers for her positive impact on those around her. Her influence on a series that has captured the imagination of millions is a lasting testament to her career, and the outpouring of love and support from friends and family in the wake of her passing paints a picture of a remarkable woman gone too soon.
