West Wing Cast Reunites for SPJ Benefit

The Society of Professional Journalists announced a special reading of All the President’s Men featuring cast members from The West Wing. The January 27 fundraiser will be held at Los Angeles City Hall in conjunction with the Fountain Theater.

Bradley Whitford, Joshua Malina, Richard Schiff and Ed Begley Jr. will read from the William Goldman screenplay adapted from the Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein novel. The 1976 film version covered their Pulitzer Prize investigation of the Watergate scandal leading to the downfall of former President Richard Nixon.

The free event is being hosted by LA Councilman Mitch O’Farrell and has limited seating. National President of the SPJ Rebecca Baker commented, “We’re grateful to Councilman O’Farrell, the event’s organizers and the actors for recognizing the importance of a free press and hosting this fun, creative and important event to support it.”

The Councilman released a statement concerning the importance of revisiting this important story, “All the President’s Men is a reminder of the parallels between Richard Nixon and the corruption that brought his presidency to an end and the current state of corruption overshadowing the Donald Trump administration. I want to thank the Fountain Theatre for producing this live reading, which underscores the importance of art in its many forms that can illuminate the conditions that affect us as a nation and as a society.”
