FX is diving headfirst into the world of video games and has given a series order to an anthology show based on Ubisoft’s wildly successful first-person shooter franchise, Far Cry. According to Screenrant, while the main plot on the series will follow has not been released, it will surely be with a former American special forces operative by the name Jack Carver, who is on a mission on an island in the archipelago to find the whereabouts of a missing journalist named Valerie Constantine. The series will be produced by combined efforts of Noah Hawley (Alien: Earth, Legion) and Rob Mac (Lost, Side Quest), who will surely capture the breathtaking environment and high-octane action that the game is well known for.
FX’s president of entertainment, Nick Grad, voiced about the wonderful team up of Hawley and Mac and how they will expand the world of Far Cry,” I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, gripping and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
in an interview with Screenrant, Hawley goes on to give his excitement of producing the adaption,”What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is it’s an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme.’ Mac follows up with his own statement,”getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized. Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created.”
Stated by Screenrant, if everything goes well this series will be in the hall of fame of best video game based series which includes HBO’s The Last of Us and Prime Video’s Fallout.
