

HBO Max is giving horror fans the ultimate trick-or-treat this year, announcing a special early release for the second episode of its chilling prequel series, IT: Welcome to Derry. According to HBO, the perfectly timed debut will make a wonderful celebration for Halloween with the upcoming episode dropping onto the streaming service on Friday, October 31st, at 12:00 am PT / 3:00 am ET, days ahead of its regularly scheduled Sunday slot.
According to Warner Bros, the previous episode ended on a brutal note, with the gang—consisting of Terry, played by Mikkal Karim-Fidler (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Boy in the Walls), Phil, portrayed by Jack Molloy Legault (Interstellar Ella, Three Pines), and Lily, played by Clara Stack (Hawkeye, The Mighty Nine)—trying to find clues about their missing friends in a movie theater. It was there that they encountered Ronnie, played by Amanda Christine (Bunk’d, Black Box). Suddenly, they were attacked by an unknown creature that emerged from the movie screen, brutally killing most of the characters. In the chaos, only Lily, who lost an arm, and Ronnie survived.
Stated by mxdwn, the plot of the series takes place two years prior of the events within 2017 film version, and will most definitely delve more into the shrouded past of the series antagonist, Pennywise, played by Bill Skarsgård (Deadpool 2, Hemlock Grove). The series will comprise of eight episodes, and with each one release, will have viewers on the edge of their seats on what awaits for the characters and how they will combat this evil entity.
Though the episode will still air on HBO on Sunday, November 2nd, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, streaming subscribers have the chance to get their chills in early. Viewers can stream the first episode of It: Welcome to Derry,with new ones releasing for Halloween and every Sunday, leading up to the finale which is scheduled for December 14.
