‘Watchmen’ May Not Have A Season 2, According to Regina King

It seems that some things do end, in the world where nothing ever endsVariety explained that within an interview between Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde) and Regina King (A Cinderella Story), King revealed that the sophomore season of Watchmen may not happen. King is unsure if she will return to the HBO superhero series as her character Detective Angela Abar.

“Honestly, I feel like I think HBO would want it back in a heartbeat, but if [showrunner] Damon Lindelof doesn’t see an entry point for Season 2, I think that the possibilities are infinite,” King said according to Variety. “But I feel that if Damon doesn’t see it, then it’s going to be a no for me.”

The 2019 series creates an alternate universe in which masked vigilantes are treated as villains, based on the celebrated 1986 DC comics or graphic novel by Alan Moore (Lost Girls) and Dave Gibbons (Kingsman). Along with King, the series stars Yahua Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman) as Cal Abar, Tom Mison (Sleepy Hollow) as Mr. Phillips, Sara Vickers (Sunshine on Leith) as Ms. Crookshanks, and Jeremy Irons (The Lion King) as Adrian Veidt.

The first season can be watched on Prime Video and HBO streaming services. There is no word on season 2 yet.
