Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell will play the role of a cabbage farmer on the TV show.
Without any air date set yet, AMC has released the trailer of its new TV series Turn. The Revolutionary War drama is one of the two shows the network is preparing for next year –Halt and Catch Fire, an early-’80s computer-industry drama is the other AMC’s series.
Turn, starring Jamie Bell, is based on the book Washington’s Spies: The Story of America’s First Spy Ring. The Billy Elliot actor is playing the role of a Long Island cabbage farmer who becomes an essential part of American intelligence gathering against the British. The series revolves around the Culper Ring spies who, in the summer of 1778, affected America’s fight for independence.
The AMC’s drama is written by Nikita’s Craig Silverstein and executive produced by Barry Josephson from Josephson Entertainment. Apart from Jamie Bell, Turn also starts Kevin McNally, Burn Gorman, Angus MacFadyen, JJ Feild, Seth Numrich, Daniel Henshall, and Heather Lind.
