The sci-fi western which is set to premiere on HBO in 2016, now has its first teaser according to Variety. In early July, we reported on the first look into the highly anticipated reboot of the 1973 film. HBO had released the first set photos at Comic-Con which you can see here.
Jonathan Nolan (Person of Interest) serves as the show’s executive producer, writer and director; while Lisa Joy (Pushing Daisies) writes and executive produces as well. Westworld is also executive produced by J.J Abrams (Star Trek: Into Darkness), Bryan Burk (James Dean), and Jerry Weintraub (Years of Living Dangerously). Westworld will star Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs), Ed Harris (A Beautiful Mind), James Marsden (Party of Five), Evan Rachel Wood (Mildred Pierce), Thandie Newton (Crash), and Jeffrey Wright (Angels in America).
HBO’s programming president, Michael Lombardo, talked details of the reboot at the Television Critics’ Association, “[With] the film … you were very invested in one particular group of humans that were enjoying the park and their experience with the robots. This is not that. This is very much told from the POV of the robots. The corporate world’s as dimensionalized as the park. And I think the visitors to the park are really not the primary focus of our show at all. So again, without giving more than that away, I think all I can say is only one character that you saw in the clip is a visitor to the park. And yeah, it resembles the film in name and in spirit and but really is, I think, otherwise not much of a reference point” (The Hollywood Reporter).
