Sesame Workshop announced back in August that Sesame Street, the popular children’s program would be moving from PBS to HBO. This is due to PBS not having the funds for Sesame Workshop to continue to produce Sesame Street episodes. Sesame Street has historically been on PBS for the past 40 years.
In addition to moving to HBO, Sesame Street’s new season in January will have new sets, shorter episodes, and even a new theme song. Times sure are changing! We’ll also see the beloved Sesame Street muppets moving to new homes. Big Bird will be relocating to a new and improved nest, and even Elmo, Oscar the grouch, and Cookie Monster are saying sayonara to their old homes.
Celebrities making appearances or the new season of Sesame Street inclue Gwen Stefani, Pharrell, Nick Jonas, Sara Bareilles, Fifth Harmony, Ne-Yo, Alan Cumming, Gina Rodriguez, Aloe Blacc, and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Season 46 of Sesame Street will debut two new half-hour episodes on January 16 at 9AM. Which will then follow with a new episode every Saturday after that.
