Netflix continues to explore various topics and genres and according to TV Series Finale, the popular online video streaming service released a trailer for their upcoming French series titled Marseille.
The drama series stars Gérard Depardieu (Robert Taro), Benoît Magimel (Lucas Barrès), Géraldine Pailhas (Rachel Taro), Nadia Farès (Vanessa d’Abrantès), Stéphane Caillard (Julia), Jean-René Privat (Cosini), Guillaume Arnault (Eric), Hedi Bouchenafa (Farid), Carolina Jurczak (Barbara), and Nassim Si Ahmed (Selim).
Marseille follows Robert Taro (Depardieu), a veteran mayor of Marseille who comes into major conflict with his successor who he hand-picked, Lucas Barrès (Magimel). As the municipal elections approach in Marseille, Robert Taro who was the city’s mayor for the last twenty years prepares his final coup by pushing through the vote for the construction of a casino of the Marina. He doesn’t allow anything to be left for chance and Lucas Barrès is already designated. Lucas is obsessed with uncovering the secret interests of the city’s leaders including those from its opulent villas and from the cities of the northern suburbs. And when two competing clans are at each other’s throats over their ultimate destiny, the whole city will pay the price. There will be endless violence, corruption, sex, and betrayal. It’s an all out war for power in the hypnotic city of Marseille.
