Warner Bros. TV Fires Showrunner of ‘Supergirl’, ‘The Flash’ After Sexual Assault Investigation

Andrew Kreisberg, showrunner to major CW shows Supergirl and The Flash, has been fired by Warner Brothers Television according to The Hollywood Reporter. The decision comes in wake of an investigation conducted by the production company following a series of sexual assault accusations made against Kreisberg.

Kreisberg was initially suspended several weeks ago when the accusations broke. An internal investigation was launched shortly afterwards, and Kreisberg was officially fired this week. In addition to running Supergirl and The Flash, he was executive producer to other series such as Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

The producer was reportedly in works to develop another show for CW, but these plans have been cancelled as well. Warner Brothers released an official statement on its decision concerning Kreisberg and announced its future plans for the shows he was responsible for.

“After a thorough investigation, Warner Bros. Television Group has terminated Andrew Kreisberg’s employment, effective immediately,” the studio said. “Greg Berlanti will assume additional responsibilities on both The Flash, where he will work closely with executive producer/co-showrunner Todd Helbing, and Supergirl, where he will work closely with executive producers/co-showrunners Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller. We remain committed to providing a safe working environment for our employees and everyone involved in our productions.”

A total of nineteen individuals, both men and women, came forward with accusations against Kreisberg. The producer joins the company of the growing group of men in Hollywood (including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Louis C.K.) who have been ousted due to sexual misconduct.
