Walton Goggins Of ‘The White Lotus’ Hints At A “Very Meta” Approach To Season Three Filming

HBO has brought together a notable cast for the third season of The White Lotus. Walton Goggins (Fallout, The Righteous Gemstones), one of the new cast members for Season Three, provides insights in a recent Los Angeles Times interview about his experience working on The White Lotus as well as the show’s filming process.

According to Los Angeles Times, he revealed, “It’s all very meta on every level. We’re guests checking into a hotel playing guests checking into a hotel. We spend all this time together, whether we like it or not, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. We work where we stay.”

As the Los Angeles Times reported further, Goggins joked, “I will be killed” if he revealed any information about his character or the plot. In the interview, Goggins also describes his extreme excitement when he received an offer to join the cast of The White Lotus. He was taken aback and emotionally overwhelmed when his agents informed him of the news during a meal at a restaurant. Goggins was particularly moved because Mike White (School of Rock), the series creator, writer and director, wanted him for a role in the show. Goggins was so emotional upon hearing the news that he had to excuse himself from the restaurant and went outside, where he started crying uncontrollably. He immediately called his wife, Nadia Conners (The 11th Hour, Tyrant), to share the news, who had previously suggested that he pursue a role in The White Lotus.

As reported earlier this year by mxdwn.com, new members joining the cast of Season Three include Carrie Coon (Gone Girl, Avengers: Infinity War), Leslie Bibb (Iron Man, Law Abiding Citizen), Dom Hetrakul (Bangkok Dangerous, It Happens on Valentine’s Day), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, The Death of Stalin), Patrick Schwarzenegger (Gen V, The Terminal List), Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, Living), Michelle Monaghan (Pixels, Source Code), Parker Posey (Scream 3, Dazed and Confused) and Tayme Thapthimthong (Farang, Paradox). Natasha Rothwell (Insecure, The Characters) will also reprise her role as Belinda Lindsey from Season One of The White Lotus.
