It seems that violence does not sell. Even when the viewership of a popular show like The Walking Dead is fading in lower ratings and it could be because the addition of a new character, Negan. Though he is described from The Walking Dead comic book as a sort of a dictator. On the show, he is worse. He is blood thirsty and appears to be hated. Especially by fans that did not feel that Negan was a good casting call.
The character of Negan is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Morgan who has played good guy characters in the past seems to be an un fit for the character role of Negan. However he was not typecast in a good guy role. He makes us love/hate his role for his capacity for power and his surprising charismatic appearance.
It is hard to believe that The Walking Dead is in their seventh season. Since the start of the story of The Walking Dead was first adapted in comic books. Some blame the lower ratings for the show on the violence. Especially in the season opener. When Negan kills two of the beloved characters on the show. It was so violently done ,with such malice that viewers just turned off the show. It leaves people to wonder if the show’s characters or show’s story lines is to blame. Nevertheless, the character of Negan is pushing the violence factor just a little bit more and fans are reacting online. In fact, here are two of these type of comments taken from a source online from www.foxnews.com

“So, I’ve decided to stop watching #twd for now, I’m just gonna wait till something gd happens like #negan getting killed for example”
From C (dot) @CanLin1230
“Negan is an awful character, at least on the show. I don’t mean he’s “awful” because of what he does. He’s awful because of his portrayal.”
Whatever may happen to his character which most likely be an awful demise. The character of Negan is proving to be unsettling and a poor choice of casting on the part of The Walking Dead franchise. The dislike of this character is making those wonder how far is too far? Or does violence really sell? When other shows are focused on the human spirit, diverse issues and promiscuity. This isn’t a call to change The Walking Dead but just to listen to those fans that care of about the future of the show.
