Julie Bennett, voice actress on The Yogi Bear Show, has died at the age of 88 on March 31 due to complications from coronavirus. Her death was announced by Mark Scroggs, her talent agent and close friend.
Bennett was most well-known for her role as Cindy Bear on The Yogi Bear Show. She began her career in Hollywood providing voice-over for animation. Her voice was featured in roles on Fractured Fairy Tails and segments of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show before finding success as Cindy Bear. She would appear in subsequent Yogi Bear properties as well as the 1964 film Hey There It’s Yogi Bear. Bennett would later go on to star in other Hanna-Barbera projects such as the Looney Tunes cartoons. She would work as a voice actress from the 1950s to the early 2000s, making her a true veteran of the industry.
However, though Bennett may be most well-known for her roles in animation, she also appeared as an actress on hit television series such as Dragnet, Leave it to Beaver, Superman, Gunsmoke, and The Tonight Show.
In the early ‘90s, Bennett became a talent manager under the name Marianne Daniels and continued to represent clients for over 20 years.
Donations can currently be made in her name to The Actors’ Fund, a charity organization dedicated to supporting performers and behind-the-scenes workers in performing arts and entertainment.
