Vizio has launched a streaming bundle featuring Starz and AMC+ for $13.99/a month. According to Deadline, the streaming bundle with Vizio makes it easier for customers to be more engaged with the platform and offer better service.
“What I think is really compelling is, the data that we have from a platform perspective allows us to know which customers this will be most interesting to,” Kathrine Pond, Group Vice President of Platform Content & Partnerships at Vizio, told Deadline. “We can be highly targeted. We can create special messaging and A/B test the different creatives that we’re putting out there in market to find those customers and bring them into this service.”
According to Deadline, the streaming world can be extremely competitive with streaming platforms changing yearly with new bundles combining different channels to get the best value. STARZ and AMC+ were up for grabs for Vizio, to which Pond added, “We’re also developing permanent touch points in our UI for these bundles to live. Real estate is hard to come by for these content distributors and so any time we can come to them and say, as a part of this opportunity, you have a whole set of touch points that is always on, always discoverable to consumers.”
Deadline reports Netflix leads in the streaming game but has downplayed the bundling. Competing platforms like Disney+ and Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max announced a bundle with Hulu last year. The new venture with Vizio TV could allow viewers to bundle services based on their viewing practices and interests. For example, a lover of British dramas could place Acorn TV, Britbox, and PBS in one package.
“We can look at our platform data and say, ‘What other apps is this customer using? What else are they engaged with? What is the behavior that happened right before someone churns and how do we prevent that?'” Bond added via Deadline.
The President of Starz Network, Alison Hoffman, expressed her excitement for this bundle in a statement.
“We’re excited to partner with Vizio to provide high-quality, bold programming at exceptional value,” she said via Deadline. “Bundles like this elevate the streaming experience for customers and enable us to broaden our reach across connected devices.”
