The CW is bringing in their 12th original series for the summer lineup. Created by Vera Miao (Best Friends Forever), Two Sentence Horror Stories will be an anthology series consisting of eight half-hour stand-alone episodes.
Two Sentence Horror Stories began as a five-episode short-form digital series called 2SH – from Warner Bros’ digital content studio – which premiered on Verizon’s go90 back in October 2017. The short-form then switched over to the CW Seed in October 2018.
“Two-sentence horror stories” was quickly becoming the new way of storytelling on the Internet. For this format, creators conjure up two sentences that could possibly send shivers down anyone’s spine. The creativity process is pretty broad considering the few amounts of words that are used. The trend had certainly caught The CW’s eye as the network aims to bring these stories to life.
Two Sentence Horror Stories is described by Deadline as series that “features contemporary tales of horror and haunting for the diverse and digital age. Inspired by the viral fan fiction of two-sentence horror stories, the anthology series taps into universal primal fears, filtered through the anxieties of the most connected and racially diverse generation. Despite dizzying advancements in technology, inequality, social progress and environmental degradation…the things that haunt us are still the same.”
The series will be executive produced by Vera Miao, Emily Wiedemann (Creative Control), and Chazz Carfora (Stories From The Felt).
The casting includes Nicole Kang (Batwoman) as Hana, Jim Parrack (The Deuce) as Ken, Aleyse Shannon (Charmed) as Karine, Greta Quispe (New Amsterdam) as Araceli, Wai Ching Ho (The Defenders) as Ma, and Kate Jennings (Notorious) as Dr. Lucie.
Fans will be able to experience each individual horror story on The CW. Two Sentence Horror Stories will debut on Thursday, August 8 with back-to-back episodes starting at 8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT and 8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT.
