It looks like TNT’s The Librarians will be adding a new face to the mix for season three. Variety reports that actress Vanessa Williams will be joining the show’s cast in a recurring role this upcoming season.
Based on TNT’s The Librarian movies, The Librarians’ show is focused on a small organization based below the Metropolitan Public Library whose sole responsibility is to protect the world from the magical reality that constantly surrounds them. This group of individuals solve mysteries, face supernatural circumstances on a regular basis and recover precious objects from dangerous people.
On this upcoming season of the fan-favorite show, the Librarians face a new threat — D.O.S.A. — The Department Of Statistical Anomalies. Their mission? To stop the Librarians and take over the Library and all the supernatural and magical artifacts the Librarians have hidden inside.
Williams plays General Rockwell, the head of The Department Of Statistical Anomalies. Leading this black ops secret government agency, Williams sets out to apprehend the Librarians and ultimately take control of the power the Library possesses.
This isn’t the first time Williams has played an antagonist on a show. Williams previously played Wilhelmina Slater on ABC’s Ugly Betty. She’s also starred in Broad City, The Good Wife, and Desperate Housewives. Williams is also set to star in VH1’s Satan’s Sisters which is based on the popular day time talk show The View.
Williams will be joining series regulars Rebecca Romijn (King and Maxwell, Eastwick), Christian Kane (Leverage, Angel), Lindy Booth (The Philanthropist), John Kim (Neighbours), and John Larroquette (The Brink, Deception).
Deadline reports that Noah Wyle, who originally starred in The Librarian movies, will also be joining this season’s cast. Not only is Wyle the executive producer of the show but he has also written an episode and signed on to reprise his role as Flynn Carsen in 7 out of the 10 episodes this upcoming season.
With Williams joining such a wonderful cast it’ll be interesting to see the dynamics of the power struggle between good and bad.
