USA & Syfy’s ‘Chucky’ Reboot Casts Bjorgvin Arnarson, Zackary Arthur, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Teo Briones As Leads; Jennifer Tilly And Devon Sawa Attached

A new USA Network and SyFy series adaptation based on the Child’s Play film franchise has announced its main cast. According to DeadlineChucky will star Bjorgvin Arnarson (The Seventh Day, Trip), Zackary Arthur (The 5th Wave, Mom and Dad), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Blended, Overboard), and Teo Briones (Ratached, Wind River) as the reboot series’ four teenage leads. Jennifer Tilly (Bound, Seed of Chucky) and Devon Sawa (Casper, Now and Then) are also set to appear.

According to Deadline, the series reimagines the iconic horror character with a true-crime twist. When a rash of mysterious murders plagues a small town, four teens will have to uncover secrets from the past to prevent the evil from repeating in the present. The show also plans to explore the origins of the Chucky doll’s infamous spirit, Charles Lee Ray.

Arthur will lead as Jake Webber, according to Deadline. Grieving the loss of his mother, Jake is a loner in desperate need of a friend. Briones will play Junior, Webber’s more popular and outgoing cousin. Junior is the All-American athlete with the most popular girl in high school on his arm, Lind’s Lexy Taylor. Not only is she the teen queen, but she also makes life for Jake a living hell. Arnarson completes the cast as Devon Lopez. His interest in true crime propels the four to research how this new killing spree is connected to the town’s blood history.

According to Deadline, Tilly will reprise her role as Chucky’s homicidal girlfriend, Tiffany Valentine, who first appeared in 1998’s Bride of Chucky. Sawa, known to horror fans for films like Idle Hands and Final Destination, is set for a recurring role. His character has not been revealed.

The series is being helmed by Child’s Play co-creator and writer Don Mancini (Curse of Chucky, Hannibal), according to Deadline. In addition to showrunner, he will executive produce with David Kirschner (Frailty, An American Tale), Harley Peyton (Friends with Benefits, Bandits), Nick Antosca (Channel Zero, Midnight Picnic), and Alex Hedlund (The Great Wall, As Above, So Below). Mancini, who has directed three of the Chucky films, will direct the first episode. The series is being produced by UCP.

According to Deadline, the original Child’s Play was released in 1988, becoming a pop-culture staple. Directed by Tom Holland (Fright Night, Thinner), the killer doll has since been revived in six sequels. The film was remade in 2019 with a modern twist as the Chucky doll’s murderous spree was caused by an A.I. malfunction. The film starred Audrey Plaza (Legion, Parks and Recreation), Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out, Unhinged), Mark Hamill (The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Last Jedi), and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, If Beale Street Could Talk).
