The upcoming Disney+ series, Willow, has officially announced their main cast members which include Erin Kellyman (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Cailee Spaeny (Pacific Rim Uprising), and Ellie Bamber (Les Misérables), according to Variety. The series will serve as a sequel to the 1988 film under the same name which followed a the adventures of Willow Ufgood, played by Warwick Davis (Return of the Jedi), as he takes on the responsibility of protecting a special child named Elora Danan from an evil queen, played by Jean Marsh (Upstairs, Downstairs) Willow will take place years after the events in the film.
Kellyman’s credits include appearing in the Lucasfilm release Solo: A Star Wars Story and in the BBC miniseries version of Less Misérables. Spaeny recently appears in The Craft: Legacy after starring in the Hulu limited series Devs and will soon appear in HBO’s upcoming drama series Mare of Easttown. Meanwhile, Bamber also appears in Les Misérables as well as the newly launched miniseries The Serpent.
The Disney+ project was initially ordered last month, with expectations of Davis to recur is role. While little detail is currently known about the aforementioned cast members, it was announced that Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer while Jonathan Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Wendy Mericle (Desperate Housewives, Arrow) will serve as showrunners. Director of the original film Ron Howard (Happy Days) will also executive produce.
