For the past two seasons, UnREAL has mocked and capitalized on all the insanity between their two male suitors. This season they’re planning on mixing it up.
TVLine reports that Everlasting, UnREAL‘s answer to The Bachelor, has so far focused on a British heir (season 1) and their “first ever” black suitor on season 2. The suitors help narrow the discussion for the season, focusing on class, wealth, perception, and race issues. For the upcoming third season, Everlasting will be having its first female suitor.
Shiri Appleby, who stars as the nuanced character of Rachel, joked about what that means for her romantic life in the upcoming season. “There will be 25 men on set, and Rachel will hook up with all of them,” she quipped.
But with the dynamics now reversed, having a small legion of men vying for the attention of one woman could work to change the view of the show.
Appleby also commented, “I think it will be great to add another strong female to the mix, someone to really battle with Quinn and Rachel… it will shake up the show and make everything feel really fresh.”
Undoubtedly it will. With Quinn and Rachel’s fierce bond, how will another strong woman factor into it? Will it threaten their relationship, or will Quinn and Rachel be forced to team up against yet another outside force? With their new showrunner on board, the show is equipped for some major shakeups.
Season 3 of UnREAL is expected for next year.
