‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Takes on The #MeToo Movement in Season 4 Trailer

Netflix’s hit show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which stars Ellie Kemper playing the lead character Kimmy Schmidt, takes on the #MeToo movement in the season 4 trailer.

The series co-showrunner Robert Carlock told The Hollywood Reporter that the #MeToo Movement will be very present in the next couple episodes.

“Our characters are not fully aware exactly of what’s going on in the world, for various reasons. But [the #MeToo movement and sexual misconduct claims are] very present, especially in the first half of the season as we’ve talked about it,” Carlock said.

In the trailer, Kimmy has just joined the adult world and landed a big girl job where she will face a sexual harassment complaint. The corky character is being accused of sexual harassment by a male employee as opposed to the norm pattern of men accused of sexual misconduct by women. Kimmy is shown talking to her one of her male-coworkers before she tells him that embarrassing things happen all the time to people before she stands up and her pants fall down.

Carlock said, “Kimmy [will be] confronting some things in a workplace. It’s the first time she’s ever been in a workplace, and that changes the rules. That movement, whether we talk about it expressly or not, is very present in how Kimmy looks at the world, and you talk about someone who represents the relief of that happening and [the sense that] hopefully it’s not too late for other people.”

Kimmy meets Bobby Moynihan’s men’s rights activist Fran Dodd right when she starts to wonder why there are no “good men” left in this country. Dodd tells Kimmy, “You can’t possibly understand what it is like to be a male today.”

The trailer also shows what’s next in Titus Burgess’ acting career and his new agent, Jacqueline, who is played by Jane Krakowski.

Netflix is releasing the first six episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on May 30 and the rest of  season will be dropping later this year.
