American actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry (Diary of a Mad Black Woman, A Madea Family Funeral) currently has two comedy series dominating BET’s charts. According to Deadline, Ms. Pat Settles It is an unscripted courtroom series that debuted on October 18. Starring comedian Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams (The Ms. Pat Show, The Degenerates), it was the No.2 show on primetime television for Black viewers and Black women aged 18-49.
The top series, Tyler Perry’s Sistas, also reigns supreme for Perry. The sixth midseason of the show aired on the same day.
Also, according to Paramount Global, Tyler Perry’s Sistas has been the No.1 cable scripted show with Black viewers for the last five seasons.
The show follows a group of single Black women navigating the perils of everyday modern life, such as their careers, romances and friendships.
After only three days of both releases, they garnered an average of 3.2 million viewers, Nielsen data states. Ms. Pat Settles It brought in a whopping 1.6 million views from its first two episodes combined. Episode one brought in 828,000, while episode two drew in 718,000 views.
Demographics of adults aged 18-49 made up a 0.34 rating for the first episode of Ms. Pat Settles It on BET and BET Her, while the second episode had a 0.28 rating, according to Nielsen data.
Conversely, Tyler Perry’s Sistas midseason debut episode brought in 1.4 million views on BET alone after three days of delay in viewers. It scored much higher than the latter show with the 18-49 demographic, bringing in a 0.71 rating.
The midseason premiere attracted a few more viewers the second time around, as 1.2 million tuned in for the sixth season premiere back in June, and it also had a much lower rating of 0.6, courtesy of the Nielsen data report with the same demographic.
BET and BET Her brought in 1.5 million views with Sistas, an impressive 0.73 rating across all platforms, and L+3 Nielsen data highlights, courtesy of Deadline.
To watch both series, head over to BET every Wednesday at 9 pm., ET/PT.
