Two New Faces Join “Vikings” Cast

Two new actors will be joining the second season of History’s successful drama series, Vikings.

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Linus Roache (Law and Order) and Alexander Ludwig (the Hunger Games) have signed on as series regulars for the show’s sophomore run.

Roache’s character will be King Ecbert of Wessex, who is described as being “full of strength, knowledge and undisguised ambition.”

Ludwig, on the other hand, will be portraying a more familiar character—Bjorn, the son of Travis Fimmel’s Ragnar Lothbrok. As Bjorn was played by 15-year-old Nathan O’Toole throughout the show’s first year, this casting news indicates that the second season will likely jump forward in time. The 21-year-old Ludwig will portray the “intelligent and bold warrior” that Bjorn has grown up to be.

Vikings’ ten-episode second season is set to debut early next year.
