‘Twin Peaks’ May Possibly Premiere At Sundance

The mystery of when Twin Peaks will finally air may take as long as the actual mystery did within the show. The revival has been buzzed about for quite a long time now, but Deadline reports that the show may in fact premiere at the Sundance Film Festival before its scheduled Showtime airdate.

Much like its premiere date, details about the plot of the revival has been surrounded by questions. However, we do know that it is 25 years after the original murder of small-town darling Laura Palmer, and many of the original cast and crew have signed on to return after its short-lived two seasons. The series also had a brief foray into the film world with Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, but other projects stopped after 1992–until now.

Sundance is definitely the kind of place for a quirky yet dark series like Twin Peaks, especially as it is still helmed by David Lynch. The film festival is also known to have surprise screenings, and as Deadline points out, Twin Peaks has thrived on the art of surprises since its inception. Additionally, the series will be hosting a Twin Peaks TCA panel on January 9, but there have been no confirmations on whether any footage will be shown to the eager audience.

The Sundance Film Festival runs from January 19 to January 29.
