

Sad news today as the actor Owain Rhys (Impact Winter, A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life) who was known for his roles in Twin Peaks and The OA has passed away. The news was announced by his brother and father on Instagram.
For those who don’t know, Rhys was born on February 20, 1982 in Cardiff, Wales, UK and pursued a career in acting on both the stage and the screen. His cause of death still remains unknown. According to Deadline, Rhys’ brother Rhodri Davies wrote this statement on his instagram regarding his death, “’It is with profound sadness that my father and I share the news that my brother, Owain, has passed away,’ Rhodri Davies wrote. ‘This news will come as a great shock to many,’ he continued. ‘While there are still questions that remain unanswered regarding the circumstances of his death, our understanding at this stage is that Owain passed suddenly, naturally, and peacefully.’” While we have no further information regarding what caused his death, the family has asked for privacy as the family comes to terms with this devastating loss.
Rhys’ co star from Downtown Abbey, Joanne Froggatt (MobLand, The Margate Murders) was among many actors and actresses who had paid tribute to his contributions to acting. Deadline has this statement from Froggatt when it came to Rhys’ passing, “No words seem to convey my emotions. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss and the grief you must be feeling,” she wrote on Instagram. She continued, “I am just devastated to lose our beautiful friend, he was more than a friend, he was joy, and life and talent and kindness and fun and intelligence, has was everything, and my brain can’t compute that we don’t get to hug him again.”
Rhys’ contributions to acting will not be forgotten. Rhys is survived by his brother Rhodri Davies and his father Conway Davies.
