Turkish Star, Can Yaman, To Star In ‘Sandokan’ Reboot TV Series

Italian producer Lux Vide (Devils) is slated to reboot the well-known pirate series based on the novels by Emilio Salgari entitled Sandokan. Vide has cast Turkish actor Can Yaman (Daydream) as Sandokan and Italian actor Luca Argentero (DOC) as fellow pirate Yanez.

Published in 1883 and followed by its TV adaptation in 1976, Sandokan follows young prince named Sandokan who “as a child lost his kingdom because of the English Invasion. He is now the captain of a den of pirates who make constant attacks against the British army.” The series featured six parts and was directed by Italian film director Sergio Sollima (The Big Gundown).

The upcoming series is written by Alessandro Sermoneta (Devils) and Davide Lantieri (The Guest). The remainder of the characters are yet to be cast. However, Yaman has shared on Instagram, where he has accumulated nearly eight million followers, that he is beginning to prepare for his role.
