In São Paulo, Brazil, at the Tudum global fan event for Netflix, the new Avatar: The Last Airbender series’ trailer premiered. According to Deadline, the trailer features the emblems of the four nations. Those nations are the Fire Nation, The Water Tribes, The Earth Kingdom, and the Air Nomads.
The cast lineup for the much-anticipated show includes Dallas James Liu (PEN15) as Crown Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation, Kiawentiio Tarbell (Beans) as the water bender Katara, Ian Ousley (13 Reasons Why) as Katara’s older brother Sokka, and last but not least, Gordon Cormier (The Stand) playing the main protagonist Aang who is the sole surviving air nomad and the next Avatar. The show is planned to premiere in 2024 on Netflix next year, and fans are beyond excited to see it.
The series will tell the story of the original show about a world in which it is divided among the four elements of fire, wind, water, and air. In these different divisions, “benders” wield these elements and master them to their own use. Hence, the Avatar is the sole wielder able to master all these four elements.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is a remake of the original Nickelodeon show under the same title that garnered much love and awards for its amazing story. The minds behind the show include Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) as showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the series. Lindsey Liberatore (Walker), Michael Goi (Swamp Thing, American Horror Story), and Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin) will also serve as executive producers on the show as well. Michael Goi, Roseanne Liang, Jet Wilkinson, and Jabbar Raisani will be set out to direct episodes in the series.
