Deadline explained that season three will be following “Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) as she’s finally given up her crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing him disparage her to his friends last season. Instead, she’s focusing on finding a husband who will respect her independence so she may continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. Due to her lack of confidence, however, her search doesn’t go so well.”
While Penelope is going through all of this emotional turmoil, Colin returns from his travels over the summer with a new physical look and also a new outlook on life. He is devastated when he learns that Penelope is giving him the cold shoulder, as she was always so accepting and understanding of who he is. In an effort to win Penelope back as a friend, Colin attempts to help Penelope attract her perfect husband. However, maybe Colin was the perfect husband after all?
