According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series Troppo, which is an Australian television series, will be made available across Europe due to new deals being made regarding the program. The show, based on a book titled Crimson Lake by Candice Fox, will continue to star Thomas Jane (The Punisher) and Nichole Champoun (Safe Harbour). The show has just finished the production for season two.
The Hollywood Reporter says that “Troppo stars Jane as down-and-out ex-cop Ted Conkaffey, who teams up with Amanda Pharell (Chamoun), an eccentric small-town private investigator to find out who murdered a local tech pioneer. Radha Mitchell David Lyonsand Yerin Ha co-star. Yolanda Ramke created and wrote Troppo, with Jocelyn Moorhouse, Catherine Millar, Ben Howling, and Grant Brown directing.”
The Hollywood Reporter also stated that Polar+ was able to help with streaming and selling rights for French-speaking areas regarding the series, which began airing on Australia’s ABC and America’s Amazon Freevee in May of 2022.
RTP2 Portugal got TV rights in that respective territory, while Amazon Freevee has TV rights for Germany and the UK, and the Scandinavian group Viaplay will be able to stream the show for Nordic audiences, claimed The Hollywood Reporter.
Leonine Studios will be responsible for international sales for the show. Along with Troppo, Leonine has also confirmed that they will be signing free-TV deals for Bonn, a German political thriller, with SBS Australia, RTV Slovenija, MTVA Hungary and RTP2 Portugal. The Hollywood Reporter says that it follows “the Cold War intrigue in the former German capital in the post-World War II era. Mercedes Müller, Max Riemelt , Sebastian Blomberg, Martin Wuttke, and Juergen Maurer star in the six-part series, which Odeon Fiction produced.”
Troppo and Bonn have both been confirmed for international release, however, no official date has been made for either series.
