AMC has released the the full-length trailer for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live on Wednesday. According to TVLine, in the trailer, Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, This Life) and Danai Gurira’s (Black Panther, All Eyez on Me) return as Rick and Michonne respectively, as they are searching to reunite with their family.
According to TVLine, Rick’s savior from season nine, Jadis, portrayed by Pollyanna McIntosh (Vikings: Valhalla, Offspring), is set to return. She is actively working for the Civil Republic Military along with Beale, a CRM Major General portrayed by Terry O’Quinn (The Stepfather, The Rocketeer).
According to TVLine, per the official logline for The Ones Who Live, Rick and Michonne have been “changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. [Judith and R.J.’s parents] are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… and ultimately, a war against the living.”
The show asks the viewers “Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”
According to TVLine, after Lincoln made his last appearance in season nine back in 2018, AMC released a statement saying Rick’s story is done in the main series but will be continued through a series of original films. After a long break between Lincolns last appearance and the end of The Walking Dead, the plan changed from a series of films to a six-episode limited series that would partner Gurira alongside Lincoln.
According to TVLine, additional cast includes Lesley-Ann Brandt (Lucifer, Spartacus) and Matt Jeffries as Pearl and Nat respectively. The show-runner of the series is Walking Dead chief content officer Scott M. Gimple (Fillmore!,Life).
The series is set to premiere on Sunday, Feb. 25th.
